Applications for the scholarships below can be picked up in the counseling department or in the Michael Blank Career Center. Many require you to submit an application online. If there is a link, please click on the link, for more details or to print the application.
* Please note all eligibility requirements, application deadlines and supplemental documentation requirements.
**If an "Official Transcript" is required, all scholarship applications must be submitted to the school registrar, two work days prior to the official deadline date .

(SR) PHOENIX UNION FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIPS The Foundation Scholarship fund was established to provide college scholarships to graduating seniors of the Phoenix Union High School District who are pursuing post-secondary education. (Sr) ROBERT E. SIMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP In memory of R.E. Simpson, a former administrator of Alhambra School District, a $5,000. Scholarship is available to Alhambra Elementary School graduates who are pursuing a career in education.
Requirements: A graduate of an Alhambra Elementary School, a graduate of a Phoenix area high school, pursuing a career in the field of education, attending or accepted to attend a college of education in Arizona

(SR) MELNICK SCHOLARS AWARDS Morrison Institute for Public Policy at ASU is offering scholarships awards for AZ high school seniors interested in public policy and who plan on attending ASU. The Melnick Scholars Award invites seniors to submit a 1,200 word public policy essay for the opportunity to earn one of two ASU scholarships. The Melnick Scholars Award seeks seniors who are committed to public service and passionate about working for the benefit of their community. (SR) 2010 ROSENBERRY SCHOLARSHIP was established to provide college scholarships to graduates of the Phoenix Union High School District who are continuing their education with preference to those who are pursuing careers in the teaching profession. (SR) CIVIL SERVICE EMPLOYEES INSURANCE COMPANY will award up to two $1,000. 00 and eight $500.00, one each to a child of a full-time public employee, based on an essay discussing ways the teenage automobile accident rate can be reduced . ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be a California, Arizona, or Nevada resident attending his or her senior year of high school. Applicant must have GPA of 3.0. Applicant must have been accepted to an accredited two- or four-year college or university, or trade school, in the U.S. by the Fall 2010 session. The applicant's parent or legal guardian must be currently employed full-time by or if retired or deceased, must have been employed full-time by a government entity. This definition of public employee includes, but is not limited to, peace officers; firefighters; educators; postal employees; and federal, state and local government workers. Civil Service Insurance Company employees', relatives, and its agents and vendors are not eligible. (SR) COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION UNDERGRADUATE Scholarships The College of Education and Leadership offers a variety of scholarships. They may be based on merit, financial need and /or specific academic criteria. Application deadline: April 15, 2010. (SR) ARIZONA STATE UNIVERSITY PRIVATE DONOR SCHOLARSHIPS…. Employers, private individuals, organizations and corporation are all contributors to private scholarships. These scholarships are awarded through the Scholarship Office and through department within the colleges. A student seeking to apply for a private scholarship must complete the proper scholarship application(s).
A.W. BODINE-SUNKIST MEMORIAL Scholarship to provide funds for undergraduate students from agricultural backgrounds who are in need of financial assistance to further their educations. Eligibility: background in California or AZ agriculture - the student of someone in the student's immediate family must have derived the majority of his or her income from agriculture, demonstrated financial need, GPA and extracurricular activities indicative of potential for success. Average amount awarded $2,000. per academic year. Applications are available in the Michael Blank, Career Center 200 Bldg. Application deadline: received by scholarship program no later than April 30, 2010.
(SR) ASU ADVANTAGE PROGRAM…. ASU Advantage is a program for Arizona high school seniors whose annual family income does not exceed $25,000 as demonstrated on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). For the students who qualify, ASU guarantees that all direct costs of attendance (tuition, mandatory fees, room, board, and books) will be covered (minus the student's Expected Family Contribution) with aid that does not require repayment (i.e. scholarships, grants, and work-study) for eight consecutive semesters of study. www.asu.edu/promise
(SR) MARICOPA COMMUNITY COLLEGES, PRESIDENTS' SCHOLARSHIP… Applicants must graduate from a Maricopa County high school and rank in the top 15% of their class at the end of the 6th, 7th, or 8th semester of high school. (SR) Lee Family Memorial Scholarship Fund This scholarship was created and endowed by the Lee Family in memory of late family members. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to those students who possess the values that Lee Family members treasured most - a love of education, high integrity and moral character, a passion for hard work, strong family values, and generosity. $4,000. is distributed in two equal payments at the start of each semester. Eligibility: US citizen or permanent resident, AZ resident for tuition purposes, undergraduate majoring in elementary education at Arizona State University with intent to pursue career as a teacher, Minimum GPA 3.0 in addition preference will be given to a student of Chinese American heritage from any high school. (Sr) The American Meteorological Society announces the 2010/2011 AMS/Industry Minority Scholarships. This scholarship is intended to help support college education for minority students traditionally underrepresented in the sciences, especially Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaska Native, Black/African American, and Native Hawaiian Students who intend to pursue careers in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences. The two-year scholarships are for $3,000 during the freshman and sophomore years. Information can be found at http://www.ametsoc.org.

(SR) 9 BEANS AND A BURRITO FOUNDATION…..two scholarships in the amount of $1000 will be awarded for the Fall 2008/Spring 2009 semesters. This scholarship opportunity is open to all full-time students in any field of study; a minimum GPA of 3.5 is required. Go to www.9beans.org for an application. Submittal deadline is April 16, 2010.
(SR) AMERICAN FIRE SPRINKLER ASSOCIATION…All applicants must read the "Fire Sprinkler Essay" and take a ten-question multiple-choice test. For each question answered correctly, students will receive one entry into a drawing for one of four $5,000 scholarships. A total of ten (10) entries into the drawing are possible. Applications will only be accepted online at www.afsascholarship.org deadline May 3, 2010.
(JR, SR) (Ayn Rand) FOUNTAINHEAD ESSAY CONTEST is based solely on an essay with a choice of three topics. First prize is 1$10,000, 5 second prizes at $2,000, 10 third prizes at $1,000, 45 finalists at $100 and 175 semifinalists at $50 each. The essay needs to be no fewer than 800 and no more than 1,600 words in length. Details are on the website at www.anyrand.org/contests April 25, 2010.
(FR, SO, JR, SR)) CATCHING THE DREAM…the objective is to recognize and reward outstanding student achievement. This award is intended to help American Indian students of any age, from any U.S. tribe, within any state, striving to get an education. Applicants must be an enrolled member and possess ¼ degree or more American Indian blood from a federally recognized, state recognized, or terminated U.S. Tribe. All awards are based on merit, academic achievement, and ambition.
