Sophomore's- PSAT in October
Junior's-PSAT in October and SAT in Spring or Summer
Senior's-ACT and SAT in early Fall
3)  Q When should I apply for Financial Aid?
A
You can begin applying for Financial Aid January of your senior year. You will need your parent's taxes from the previous year with you to apply. See Ms. Ayala in Counseling for upcoming Financial Aid seminars to assist you and your family.
4)  Q What is a GPA? And why is it so important?

Your GPA stands for Grade Point Average, this is what college's and scholarship committees base their awards on. The higher your GPA the more money you can receive. You can improve it by taking Honors and AP courses here at Carl Hayden or just by applying yourself in all of your classes.

You can come to the counseling department before school, during lunch, and after school to SET UP an appointment to meet with your counselor. We are located upstairs in the new Administration building across from the Special Education offices.
6)  Q What do I need to do if I want to enter the military?

You can sign up with Ms. Mendiola in the counseling department to meet with one of our Military recruiters. You will need to take the ASVAB test as part of your enrollment requirements. For more information about the ASVAB, see Mr. George Torres in Counseling.

As counselors, we would love to help you with any problems you may have. We can help you with more than just fixing your class schedule, so please stop by the counseling office.

You can come to the Career Center located right next to the Counseling department to get scholarship applications and deadlines. It is also very important to pay close attention to announcements made throughout the year.
