Applied Marine Biology create and present a number of presentations as a part of the units studied. |
In the "Lamprey Flyer" assignment, students learned about one of the jawless fish. Their task was to create a flyer that contained information about the unique features of the lamprey along with persuasive langauge that would sell one, a challenging task as these are unattractive, parasitic fish. Some of their sales pitch is pretty creative and humorous!
For "7 Wonders of the Shark World," students were to chose the sharks that they found the most unique and amazing. You'll see in their Power Points that the shark family is incredibly diverse, and includes many interesting species. Quite a few have included the class shark resident, the white spotted bamboo shark, that is indeed quite wondrous. In "Marine Reptiles," students were to find out about one of the species of sea turtle. Since all of the species of sea turtles are classified as endangered or threatened, they were to focus on the conservation of their selected species, as well as the unique characteristics. |
