Bioscience teachers Shoshanna Kroeger and Lynn Palacios were recipients of DREAMR Awards at the 18th Annual DREAMR (Downtown Revitalization Effort Awards of Merit and Recognition) award luncheon, February 6. The luncheon and awards were established to recognize individuals and organizations for their contributions toward making the dream of a renewed and invigorated Downtown Phoenix come true. Last year, The Downtown Phoenix Partnership began including educators in their awards program. Each teacher was awarded a check for $500, and lunch with other dreamers and people who work to make downtown a special community. Kroeger and Palacios were nominated for the DREAMR award by their colleagues. Here are comments their colleagues shared in their nominations: “Never satisfied to just settle for what is, Lynn’s (Palacios) vision of what could be has taken a great part in the on-going evolution and transformation of these exhibitions and the project-based learning behind these exhibitions.” ’Oh the places we’ll go’ is an apt description of the limitless possibilities with which Lynn has inspired all of us.” “Sho (Kroeger) works hard with her students, helping them become critical thinkers and creative problem solvers. Her classes are rigorous, relevant, and engaging as she helps her students not only learn to dream but equip them to live out those dreams.”
Residents living in the Phoenix Union High School District boundaries have a chance at redrawing the maps of its five single-member governing board districts or wards through the use of an online mapping program.
